Taken when I was my way to having all my hair cut off. Everyone asked me why I did it but I just wanted to know what's it like to go against what's defined as feminine and beautiful I guess. Was massively insecure the first couple days. So crazy how much I care what others perceived me as! But I've grown to really enjoy my close-cropped hair.

Soz for portraits but I'm at the stage where I'm really content with my hair (esp with the waves and slightly pin-up fringe) and I'm usually never content with my hair.  Just need a nostril piercing or a tatt somewhere to complete the indie look am I right.

Finally got it cut. I've always been oddly detached with my hair. I don't feel anything watching it being cut off and it's amusing watching hairdressers not being used to a girl so nonchalant with hair length. They always think I've some dramatic reason behind the 'change' when really, it's just me being lazy about it so it just grows and grows. What was funny was me wearing a high-collared top and I kept wanting to go shorter without actually realising how short it was getting heh.

Lots of things left to settle for FYP but I've been pretty consistent with my daily To-Dos. What makes me hella stress is the amount I'm spending. It's so ridiculously much it's some kind of absurd hilarity and I'm looking at the people around me like "WHY IS NO ONE FLINCHING?!" 4 digits. My friends are saying how we can't complain because the film students spent way more but it doesn't even make me feel better knowing that others are spending more. My heart has more holes than my pockets. We are all ultimately buying impressions and grades if you think about it. Is it worth what's it's worth? I hope at least I'm proud of how everything looks.

OH LOOK IT'S A HAIR PRODUCT! I don't usually do this kinda beauty haircare thingamajig but this bottle is bomb. You know I bleached and dyed and did so much crazy things with my hair for years now and bleaching to grey hair of course killed it. Then long story short I found this and woke up with hair dove / pantene hair models will be jealous of. It made my tangled dry hair really soft and tangle free and shiny (not in the greasy way) and it isn't those that feels as though you have a layer of heavy oil on your hair. It gets absorbed and goes away and smells so goooood. I mean I only used it twice but I've tried so many hair products and none blew me away like this did. It could also be the new hair conditioner I've gotten though. It's $20+ dollars which is pricey but Guardian's having some sales now and it's reduced a lot.

This is awkward. Idk how to rave about a product but this iz good. For dry hay hair and all you need is a little dollop. Dollop is a funny word. I don't expect you to rush out of your house for this bottle once you finish reading this post because my post is so "amazingly convincing" but research first if you're really interested okay heh.


Also on a related note, much thought was put into how to take the above photo but I gave up and just ended up plonking it somewhere and photographing it. I tried the typical influencers flat-lay post but I haven't any photogenic plants except literally two dead leaves I picked off the ground which I sometimes use as bookmarks and a wooden deer figure but I realised later my flatlay look like a roadkill crime scene. And yeah I have a little The Wind in the Willows book there. I have a lot of interesting things on my table actually. Maybe one day I'll show ya some things.

Hair was grey for about 2 days then I'm blonde. I got it done at the salon in Malaysia (dragged Ziqi with me) for $80 (cut, bleached and dye so suck on it overpriced SG hair salons) but I'm going to try to bleach my hair myself one more time to go really light and see what colour I'll go next (probably grey again but self-dye). For now Imma try to condition da shiz outta it. It's feeling not too dry so that's good. ALSO. If you're bleached blonde and you need purple shampoo to tone it and you don't know where to get it, go Beauty Language. There's two brands to choose from. A bit pricey but I'm not aware of anywhere else that sells it. :(

AND I KNOW THAT LOOKS LIKE ROOTS but it's just... ombre that looks weird because I tied up the top half of my hair. Point of ombre is not to worry about roots haha I'm too lazy to care.

Because what's life if you don't give in to impulses spontaneously some times am I right. Even if it means cutting your hair yourself... badly. Then again I cut my sister's hair recently and everyone's talking about how good it looks (haha yea I'm terribly humble) so if yall need a cut... *waves scissors wildly at you* Though I have to admit I accidentally chopped off... waaaay more than what she wanted (approximately 20cm good lord but hey I never said I was good with Maths... or numbers... or estimation) and I had to try my best to convince her she looks good while feeling terrible inside HAHA I'm terrible. Maybe Jing's Salon can't be a thing. But people really really did praise her hair lor. *waves scissors wildly at you again* 

The main use photobooth has for me is to document my hair growth haha. I don't know. I like looking back and seeing how much my hair has changed because trust me, this thing on my scalp changes style almost as often as I change my panties. Almost. I might have exaggerated. The top one was taken right after Maria helped me cut my hair in my house around Christmas. So 6 months later my hair is how it is now. HAHA Look at that mushroom head. No wonder the Hall cheer team was asking me if I wanted to be their mascot Cleopatra the other time. Pfft who needs a wig. Cleopatra would have uploaded a photo of my hair on her insta and hashtag 'hair goals' okay.

Now I'm swinging between ideas of going platinum blonde / blue / shave part of it off again. But mostly just too lazy to do anything about it. Ain't nobadeh got time for roots or hair as dry as hay. BUT DAMMIT PLATINUM WOULD LOOK COOL AS F. Yay or nay, yay or nay. The other day I spot a white hair and went all batshit cray. Dropped everything and scrutinised it in the mirror till I was all cock-eyed. And yknow what they say... If you can't beat them, join them so yes why don't you dye the 99.75% of your hair white too, Yun Jing. #logic #embracingthefuture #hairwillbewhitesoonerorlateranyway

On a side note, it's so dang hawt these days every time I shower and step out of the bathroom I feel like a whole new person reborn complete with the holy sounds and glorious light... And then I'm back to the hot sticky mess before I even take another step. I'm going to live in the bath tub till July ends. Let me know when it does and I'll greet August looking like a shrivelled prune. And if it's still as hot, screw school, I'm going back to the bathtub.

GUYS THE FRUSTRATION WITH MY HAIR IS REAL. I CANNOT. LOOK AT THIS OVERGROWN FUGLY PIXIE HAHAHAHA. I bet you don't even know my hair looks like that because I've been tying it all up now that it's long enough. Last night my mum looked at me and went "OMG JIE JIE YOUR HAIR SUPER UGLY LEH!"

I'm waiting for the ears side to grow long enough for me to chop the back 'mullet' to the same length so I'll have a bob BUT IT'S TAKING AGES TO GROW. I need some hair fertiliser. Does Beijing 101 help with hair spurt. OR SHOULD I GO BACK TO PIXIE HAIR. Sigh.

This time when I trimmed my fringe I decided to go a little higher. At least now everybody knows I have eyebrows haha. My sister came home from school, saw the curtains drawn and before she saw me she yelled "TAKING PHOTOS AH!" Hahaha. I used to take all my conceptual photographs in my room.

Did you know... books act as a reflector in a way? I just realised it today. I know they reflect light as long as they are white surfaces but I never thought about books specifically. Learn something new everyday.

Pixie gettin' wildddd

Here's my pixie hair growth in 2 months & 3 days. Ignore the bangs because I trim that every 2 weeks. My bangs grow from below my brows to the middle of my eyeballs in 2 weeks. I don't know what it is I eat, but my hair sprouts wildly. Just had Chloe cut about an inch off the back of my hair to get rid of my 'mullet' and so the hair by my ears don't look like hobbits (short) as compared. Chloe was freaking out because she hasn't cut anyone's hair before haha.

Growing out a pixie is... well, a pain sometimes but you have to figure out what style works best for you and I've been tucking/pinning hair behind my ears to avoid having shaggy Zac-Efron-in-HSM kinda hair. *points to bottom left photo* Gawd I look like I freshly came out of The Beatles hair salon. Slick back hair would look pretty cool too but... it's like a bobby-pins landmine on my head.

Sticking to bangs for now! And I honestly don't even have to care about my eyebrows hahah. Hair will probably be a decent bob by Xmas. We shall see where to go from there then. :D

Had the urge for a haircut again and I gave myself this little straight-bangs snip because fringe was at the eyeballs-jabbing stage previously. I actually quite like it. Still thinking if I should cut it above my eyebrows... Pixies are such a pain to maintain. Remember how I said having short hair in windy Wellington is just like having your hair sexily-tousled but I've hence moved passed that stage and now in almost all photos, I have one or multiple hair antennas. I kinda think I look like Goku when the winds blow haha. Dang.

Note to self:

Rough edit of my future hair. Maybe when my pixie grows out. Blunt bob and maybe with a blunt fringe. Think SIA. Except jet black or ashy grey/green. 

Pixie II

This decision wasn't exactly thought out clearly and it could have been impaired by my flu but you know. YOLO. At least now I can't have weird hair-cutting urges. I wasn't very attached to my long hair anyway. I just saw it as dead weight and it was dried beyond repair (you can tell from the photos) so OFF WIT YAW HAIR.
Plus since my overgrown undercut can't see to get as long as the rest of my hair why not just make the rest of my hair my undercut's length aye?

One of my 'mottos' is if someone can't tell you have a haircut, what's the point.
Make it as drastic as possible and make your money worth. Hair is just hair.

I'll be trying to maintain this for a while instead of just letting it grow out like my previous pixie.

This was all the assurance I need.
HAHA.

But fun fact, Astro first saw me when I had my first pixie cut and he fellll in love at first sight.

Hair Talk

Sooooo, about a week after I went to perm my hair I had to go back again. My stubborn mule hair decided to straighten itself again. (Did I ever mention how if I were to braid my hair for curls it'll turn out straighter than ever?) But it was fine since most of the hair salons are willing to help you re-perm if your hair is straight again after a mere short while. But what's not fine is that the dude kinda forgot what perm I wanted and I thought he remembered since he saw me like 5 days ago and I ended up getting something different (previous post here). Smaller, like a body wave perm instead of the bigger curls previously. 

I was sooooo upset initially. Distraught really. My hair was literally a poodle. Frizzy as hell and poofy and big. Like afro but not quite. Didn't helped that the guy assured me it will last prolly around 7 months. I didn't asked for Hermoine's hair for 7 months. My dear sister had quite a laugh. If it wasn't me on the receiving end, I would laugh too.

hahaha this was New Year's Eve. I dont know if you can see it but it's quite poofy and it wasn't as bad as when I first stepped out of the salon. But it is poofy. The photos on top of this shot were taken a week later.

 On my hairdresser's defense, other than that (which is partly my fault too), he's really really patient and super nice and he even kinda-permed my fringe to a side for free (sometimes fringe perming add costs) because he understood how annoying overgrown bangs can be (aka attacking my eyeballs 24/7). Plus some salons make a fuss about re-perming your hair and some hairdressers will try to put the blame on you. He didn't. ANDDDDD he didn't force-sell some hair products to me. Some are just plain annoying when they do that. I quite like him.

Anyway, bottom line. Curls will loosen and the way you treat it when it's wet matters a lot. 

I literally did an experiment when my hair is wet. One half went all Hermoine on me while the other half didnt. So then I knew what to avoid doing and stuff like that. Now I just like it air dry. It'll look poofy after bathing but when I sleep on it it looks better next day. Scrunching wet hair makes the curls define when it's dry. Twirling depends on your type of perm. No twirling for body wave or else YOU WILL BE A POODLE. Yknow it's kinda weird to me people don't comb their perm hair (might take out your curls or make it frizzy or break it since perm hair is damaged already). I used to take pride in making my hair tangle free because when my hair was straight, combing it makes it look Pantene/Dove-Shampoo Ads smooth. Now I guess no one can tell whether you combed it or not... 

Anyway, your ends will be fried. Just saying. I had to self cut a few parts because they were so dried and fried.

New Hair (again)

Tadaaaa!!! My new hair. I cut off a significant part of the bleached ends and permed it. Oddly I was rejected by two other hair salons when I asked about perming my hair. Apparently bleached hair is too damaged to undergo perming else it'll be really fried so I had to cut off a few inches. That's why I said no more purple hair in my previous post. I've wanted permed hair for a while now, ever since before I cut pixie. But I figures ill perm my hair once my pixie grew out and now that it has grown out, perm it is! 

The process was pretty fast. I thought it'll be really elaborate with my head stuck in the UFO thing but nopeeee. It was like 2 hours including cutting hair. Mine is the normal perm so it won't last as long as digital perm but it's less than half the price so I'm not complaining. Had to fork it out of my own pocket so I'm kinda (really) broke. Christmas present for myself hahaha. 

It's Christmas Eve guys! I can't believe it. I really can't. Goodness. 

Undercut

Here you go, my new hair (of the lack of).

Went to Twister @ JP with Na early morning to get it cut before I headed to work at DSB.

Went to Twister too back when I had my pixie cut.

My hairdresser (Steven) was such a professional that Na and I were in awe.

He made sure he had everything perfectly right and that everything was what I wanted before cutting anything.

I can't keep my hands off my bald spot now. It's so fluffy.

I love it very much. :) 

Undercut

Its that time again to do something drastic to my hair. I'm going for an undercut tmr morning and hopefully it turns out well! Na is accompanying me hehee YAY!!!
And it's only a matter of time before I dye my hair some other colour again.

haha I need to do a hair history post soon. Idk how many times I've changed my hairstyle.
It'll be interesting!

hurray for eyebags

New hair colour again. I know I know, I'm doing a lot of thingamajigs to my hair but I'm never satisfied with what I do to it.
I don't even know how to feel with this one. The red isn't that bright at the back of my head because I didn't bleach my back the previous time. And then the 'ombre' isn't really an ombre but an awkward cut off line haha like a pokeball!

But still I think I'll grow to like this.
